Pork Producer in Chile Chooses SKIOLD Feed Mill to Reduce Feed Costs
Coexca expects to save USD 1.2 million annually through own feed production
Coexca S.A. is one of Chile's leading pork producers. Founded in 2002, the company has built a strong position in the Chilean pork industry, with approximately 900 employees, annual revenues of around USD 130 million and exports to more than 33 countries worldwide.
As part of its continued growth, Coexca built a new pig farm in 2018 to significantly increase its pork production capacity.
A key part of the investment was a complete SKIOLD feed mill, giving Coexca full control over feed production while reducing dependence on external feed suppliers.
Own feed production for greater control and lower costs
For Coexca, producing its own pig feed was driven by both quality and economics.
The company has high standards for meat quality and food safety and considers complete control over the feed given to its pigs an essential part of maintaining these standards.
By producing feed in-house, Coexca can control the raw materials, feed formulations and production process while ensuring consistent feed quality.
“We wanted to produce our own feed due to our high standards for meat quality and food safety. It is therefore extremely important for us to have 100% control over the feed we give our pigs.”
— Guillermo Garcia G., CEO, Coexca S.A.
Expected annual feed cost savings of USD 1.2 million
Reducing feed costs was another important objective behind the investment.
Based on its calculations, Coexca expected the SKIOLD feed mill to reduce annual feed costs by approximately USD 1.2 million.
With the investment, the company anticipated a return on investment of approximately 5–6 years.
For a large-scale pig producer, the ability to produce feed efficiently and control feed costs can have a significant impact on overall production economics.
“Our goal with the feed mill is also to decrease feed costs. With a feed mill solution from SKIOLD, we have calculated that we will decrease the costs by USD 1.2 million annually. Our return on investment is anticipated to be 5–6 years.”
— Guillermo Garcia G., CEO, Coexca S.A.
A complete feed mill for modern pig production

Coexca selected a complete SKIOLD feed mill with an initial capacity of 20 tonnes per hour prepared for expansion to 40 t/h.
The installation covers the complete feed production process, from raw material intake and cleaning to grinding, dosing, mixing and pelleting.
The feed mill includes:
- Raw material intake and cleaning
- Dosing and weighing system
- Hammer mill grinding
- Horizontal mixers
- Pelleting system
- FlexMix Pro process control system
The complete setup gives Coexca control over the entire feed production process and allows the company to produce feed according to its own recipes and production requirements.
Precise feed formulations for high-quality pig feed
The feed produced at Coexca is based on typical pig feed formulations, with the highest-energy recipe consisting of approximately:
- 56% corn
- 37% wheat bran
- 3% soybean meal
- 4% soybeans
Producing the feed in-house allows Coexca to control the composition of the feed and adjust formulations according to the nutritional requirements of its pigs.
This supports the company's focus on meat quality, food safety and efficient pig production.
A feed mill prepared for future growth
The SKIOLD feed mill was designed with Coexca's long-term growth strategy in mind.
The initial installation has a capacity of 20 tonnes per hour, while the feed mill is prepared for a future expansion to 40 tonnes per hour.
This gives Coexca the flexibility to increase feed production as its pig production grows, without having to replace the entire feed production setup.
The new farm was initially designed for approximately 3,800 sows, with the potential to expand to 10,000 sows.
The scalable feed mill therefore forms an important part of Coexca's long-term production strategy.
Supporting a growing Chilean pork producer
Coexca operates in one of Latin America's important pork-producing markets. Chile has a strong domestic market for pork and is also an established exporter of pork products to international markets.
Coexca's pork products are sold under the Campo Noble brand and are produced with a focus on food safety and environmental responsibility.
The company's modern processing facility covers more than 15,000 m² on an 18-hectare site.
With the investment in its own SKIOLD feed mill, Coexca has added greater control over one of the most important factors in pig production: feed.
